Trail Maps by National Geographic provides the maps and tools necessary for outdoor enthusiasts to navigate through the backcountry. This app is ideal for planning your adventures or while enjoying the outdoors. Seamless USGS topographic map quads for the contiguous United States and high-resolution Microsoft Bing aerial images can be downloaded onto your device so there is no need for network access while you’re on the trail.
GPS functionality allows users to live track their route and visualize their route on a map. In addition to the maps themselves, you can create elevation and speed profiles using the trip computer and track trip statistics including average speed, duration of trip and more. Tools for measuring distance, positioning routes, waypoints and pins, searching for places of interest, as well as a built-in compass are also included.
Trails Maps by National Geographic features high-resolution, seamless scans of authentic USGS topographic maps, including the USGS 1:100,000-scale and 1:24,000-scale series. Copyright dates for these maps vary and not every trail in the U.S. is shown.
