GMUs for TOPO! Explorer, State Series, & Weekend Explorer
Free Game Management Unit Downloads for TOPO! Users!
Now you can download Game Management Unit boundaries free for any of the states below. GMU's are areas set forth by each of these states to effectively manage and control hunting. States have legal regulations that govern each 'unit' to provide hunters with an optimal experience while managing game populations from year to year.
If you are a National Geographic TOPO! software user, you can download the GMU's for your state, and work with them as a layer within TOPO! To download the Game Management Units for any of the available states, click on the link below and download the file.

GMU Download instructions
How to Download and Install for TOPO! State Series
1. Choose one of the GMU file links, organized by state and animal species.
2. Unzip the file to your hard drive.
3. Run TOPO!.
4. Choose Open... from the File menu.
5. Choose one of the GMU .tpo files you unzipped in step 2.
6. Use the Zoom tool to view the GMU boundaries on more detailed maps (if the boundaries are too tight, move your cursor until you see the magnifying glass and plus sign, then zoom in).
7. Use the Notes & Photo tool to mark your favorite areas.
How to Download and Install for TOPO! Explorer
1. Click on the TOPO! Explorer link next to the GMU you would like to download.
2. Select the "Add to Library" option in the top-right corner of the Trip Page. This will download the Trip to your Library.
3. Launch the TOPO! Explorer desktop application and Login.
4. Navigate to your Library (left navigation-bar) and to the Trips section.
5. Locate the Trip you just downloaded and click its name
6. Open the trip to view boundaries.
